Who is Behind this Ballot Initiative?

  1. The CITIZENS of Dana Point
This Town Center CITIZENS’ Initiative is the result of over 4,200 Dana Point voters who have signed the petition to put this Initiative on the ballot.

  2. A Group of Dana Point Residents
The Initiative was originated by a group of Dana Point residents who collected signatures from residents of the city.

The majority of the hard work has come from a growing group of concerned citizens called Dana Point Residents for Responsible Development (DPRRD), which was formed in the spring of 2014. Our mission is to help assure that residents’ concerns are known to the city government. We have urged the City Council and the Planning Commission to raise the priority given to residents interests. Dana Point government seems to have been steered by special interests such as Doheny Hotel and Town Center land owners and potential developers.

  3. Residents Who Care About Dana Point (FPPC #1375600)
As a result of extensive spending by the developers in an effort to defeat this CITIZENS’ Initiative, we have been forced to create a Political Action Committee to fund further community outreach leading up to the election on June 7, 2016. The name of the committee is Residents Who Care About Dana Point (FPPC #1375600).

Unlike the developers who hide behind anonymous funding groups (and the cynical political operatives and mud slingers they have hired), we believe in transparency. We believe it is important to share our opinions openly and to stand up and take responsibility for our efforts.
