5 Worst Dana Point City Council Actions Ever

1. DISTRICTING:
Residents were ignored and districting was rushed by Councilmen Muller, Viczorek and Tomlinson to create five districts where voters can only elect one council member from their district every four years in 2018 and in all future elections. (2018)

2. MEASURE I:
A ballot measure that reduced the parking requirements in Town Center by over 50% for developers’ profit, including reducing restaurant parking from 10 spaces per 1,000 sq. feet to 2 spaces, and allowed the vote of 3 councilmen to change the Town Center Plan; passed by Councilmen Muller, Viczorek and Tomlinson. 3. FINANCIAL REVIEW COMMITTEE SHUT DOWN:
Volunteer, financial experts making responsible recommendations to improve efficiency in city government, stopped by Councilmen Muller, Viczorek and Tomlinson. (2018)

4. SHORT TERM RENTAL ORDINANCE:
(2016) Allowed 2-day rentals throughout Dana Point, to be regulated by the CA Coastal Commission, passed by Scott Schoeffel.

5. CALIFORNIA COASTAL COMMISSION LITIGATION:
Dana Point lost when the CA Superior court Judge found the basis of Dana Point’s action to be false, resulting in costly legal fees and fines; voted by Scott Schoeffel. (2010 -2015)
