Dana Point Finance Review Committee is Established

ESTABLISHMENT OF FINANCE REVIEW COMMITTEE

PROTECTING DANA POINT’S FINANCIAL FUTURE

Recently, the City Council established an independent Finance Review Committee.  The city’s financial reporting is very complex often comprising hundreds of pages, as the picture shows. The Council should welcome and encourage input from the Committee.  More information will enable the Council to make the best possible decisions and assure residents that the city’s resources are being wisely managed.

The City Council’s highest priority and fiduciary responsibility is to oversee the financial condition of the city.  That means thoroughly understanding and approving all aspects of the city’s finances. The most critical council actions rely on the information contained in the financial reports. The Committee will make presentations at City Council meetings to keep the Council and residents informed about pertinent issues.

The Committee will consist of five Dana Point resident volunteers, one appointed by each council member. Debra Lewis appointed Toni Nelson, Paul Wyatt appointed Buck Hill, John Tomlinson appointed Larry Rolapp, Richard Viczorek appointed Greg Wall and Joe Muller appointed William (Brian) Porter.
